Many Detainees or inmates may be eligible to post an immigration
bond. This bond will allow them to be released from custody pending
their case.
INMATE VISITING:
Visiting hours:
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturdays and Sundays.
And Holidays:
New Year's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

INMATE MONEY:
No cash will be accepted in the mail. Money orders from the U.S. Post Office,
Continental Express, Travelers Express, and Albertson's with a value of $200.00
or less, are accepted. Money orders over $200.00 will be returned to the sender.
Note:
Visitor must check in by 2:15 p.m. to be allowed to visit. Mother's and Father's
Days are added to the list of authorized holidays listed above. Visits are one
hour long, unless special arrangements are made in advance for a two hour visit.
The
visit may include up to four persons, including children.
Mira Loma is contracted by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to house
illegal immigrants until their immigration case is decided. This Immigration
Facility functions as a regular County jail with the exception that the individuals
we house are identified as detainees. They are being detained at the facility
via the I.N.S. until their case is decided.
The Mira Loma Detention Center safely and securely houses federal immigration
detainees awaiting deportation to their country of origin. The detainees live
in barrack-style housing and have daily access to medical services, recreation,
library, and stores. Religious and school programs are also available to the
detainees. There is three Executive Office of Immigration Review courtrooms at
the facility. Federal judges conduct on-site deportation hearings.
Each barrack houses up to 60 detainees. They are allowed to have up to $70.00
on them at any time. They use this cash to purchase items from the vending machines
or jail store if they wish. All immigration detainees are offered yard time at
least once per day. They have a coach from La Puente School District that maintains
all the sporting equipment (soccer, volleyball, basketball, ping pong, etc.).
The detainees always have some kind of activity while they are in the yard.
The Immigration Naturalization Service personnel assigned to Mira Loma do all
the transporting, releasing, tracking and deporting of all detainees assigned
here. Deputies and Custody Assistants run the E.O.I.R. courts while the I.N.S.
carries out the court's orders. |
